manny-being-mannyWow!! Another big name baseball player and performance enhancing drugs.

Surprised??? Not at all.

LA Dodgers Outfielder Manny Ramirez was busted yesterday for testing positive for a performance enhancing drug called gonadotropin. Gonadotropin is on the Major League Baseball’s ban substance list and the drug is most commonly used by women as fertility drugs.

Ramirez supposedly acquired the substance through a prescription from a doctor in Miami for his medical condition.

Ramierz released a statement thursday saying “Recently I saw a physician for a personal health issue. He gave me a medication, not a steroid, which he thought was okay to give me. Unfortunately, the medication was banned under our drug policy. Under the policy that mistake is now my responsibility. I have been advised not to say anything more for now. I do want to say one other thing; I’ve taken and passed about 15 drug tests over the past five seasons.”

So Who does this hurt the most:

  1. The Dodgers- They may have the best record in baseball now but without Manny in the roster they will start to struggle.
  2. Manny’s fans – Manny has very large group of loyal and passionate fans and I’d imagine a lot of them are going to be very upset.

Who is enjoying this?

  1. Boston Red Soxs- How does that trade look now? Manny Ramirez for Jason Bay… Sad to say but it looks like Boston made the right move.
  2. Alex Rodriguez- Finally the media can get off his back for a while.  A-Rod is probably thinking to himself “Wow…Thanks Manny for taking the attention off me for a while..”
  3. NL West- Everyone in the NL West is probably thinking “Wow we might have a race on our hands now..” The NL West might not be a 1 team race after all..

joba-chamberlainJoba Chamberlain should Stay in Starting Rotation!

I’ll admit it.. Before this season I was leaning towards putting Joba in the pen but then I saw him pitch against the Tigers the other night and he pitched 8 strong innings.  Then I thought to myself “Wow this guy is getting real good and he’s going to be Yankees Ace for a long time..”  In his start against the Tigers Joba Chamberlain found his velocity again and his first pitch hit 96 mph and even more amazing in the 8th inning his last pitch hit 96 mph. If Joba can do that on a consistent basis then he’s going to be the future ace of this Yankees pitching staff for years to come..

My Reasons Why Joba Should Stay a Starter:

  • If Joba is struggling and he doesn’t have his best stuff he will continue to battle no matter what and find a way to keep it close…
  • Joba is a big strong kid and he can hit 96 mph with his first pitch and still hit 96mph with his 100th pitch…
  • Joba has amazing stuff and he’s got too many pitches to just be a bullpen guy.
  • Last Night Joba strikes out 12 vs Boston Red Soxs.
  • Last 15 starts Joba has an ERA 2.88. That is Top 5 among active starters.

Barry Bonds one of the greatest players of all-time can’t seem to find a team right now. He’s towards the end of his career but he can still hit the ball. There has to some team out there that will take a chance on Bonds. Whoever does really has nothing to lose except a little bit of cash. If Bond is that bad or out of line in anyway you can just cut him.

Is there any chance either New York team goes after Bonds?

New York Mets: They are on a roll right now. The Mets do need an outfielder and a big bat in the line up but Bond’s isn’t the everyday outfielder the Mets are looking for. Chances of Bonds going to the Mets are slim to none right about now but look for them to be active more and more as the trade deadline approaches.

New York Yankees: The Yanks are also on a roll right now and the injury bug keeps hitting them. They need to pick up someone but Bonds isn’t the answer. They need a right handed bat that can play outfield with a decent arm. Damon’s arm is shot so he needs to DH. Matsui and Posada don’t look like they will return this season. If the Yanks had an open DH I could see them grabbing Bonds but chances of this happening are also slim to none. (They picked up Nady anyway so Bonds is definitely not coming to New York.)

If anything a smaller market team should go after Bonds. Bonds brings a circus with him so it will at least boost the attendance of their stadium. I would like to see Bonds land on a team this season. I feel he can still hit and can offer a team help at a DH spot or play a little outfield. Whoever gets Bonds will get a little boost to their offense thats for sure.

Good Luck to Bonds maybe he will land on a team this season.
